Canadian Care Dental Plan

The Federal Government of Canada has introduced the CDCP to increase the accessibility of dental care to all Canadians by helping make it more affordable to eligible residents.

Applications are now open for:
• Seniors aged 65 and over
• Children under the age of 18
• Adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit Certificate

Applications are expected to open for the rest of the population sometime in 2025. For more information regarding the details of the Canadian Dental Care Plan or to apply online, please check Canada.ca/my-cra-account or call the CRA client contact center at 1-833-537-4342.

Eligibility requirements are based on age and net family income and include the following:

• You do not have access to dental insurance
• You and your spouse/common-law-partner (if applicable) must have filed your tax returns in Canada so that your family income can be assessed for the previous year
• Your adjusted family income is less than $90,000
• You are a Canadian resident for tax purposes

You may still qualify for the CDCP even if you have dental coverage through certain provincial, territorial or federal government social programs.

Once your application has been processed, you will receive a welcome package from Sun Life, which administers the CDCP. You can then book your appointment with Scenic Acres Dental Centre by calling (403) 233-6825. Please have your CDCP card available when booking.

• Basic hygiene (including some scaling) exams, X-rays, fluoride applications, sealants
• Basic restorative services, including fillings and root canals, pain control for diseased teeth and other treatments for cavities
• Restorative services when teeth are too damaged to be fixed with basic fillings
• Oral surgery
• Anesthesia and Sedation Services
• Orthodontic services, which are based on strict criteria, with a maximum spending limit

Our office fees are based on the current Alberta Dental Association fee guide. This may not match the CDCP plan fee guide in some cases. You will be responsible for any patient portion based on what the CDCP plan has approved for your income level, any fee guide differences, and any services you and your oral health provider agree to that the CDCP does not cover.

Our administrative team would be happy to send a predetermination to the CDCP for your individual needs at your request.

If you currently have insurance, you SHOULD NOT cancel it, as not all CDCP details are public knowledge yet. You are still considered to have access to dental insurance if you choose to opt out of available benefits.
