Your First Appointment

Your first appointment at Scenic Acres Dental Centre is a very important occasion for us as we will be meeting you for the first time. As you know, first impressions are the most important. That is why, during your visit, we want to ensure that you and your family have a pleasant first experience and that everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Your first appointment is used to gather important information about your current general and dental health. We will discuss your medical history and any concerns you have with dental appointments, visiting the dentist, or any financial questions.

To diagnose your current oral condition, we will first obtain a series of dental x-rays. If you have had x-rays taken at another dental office within the last year, we will contact them on your behalf to have these x-rays transferred over to us.

Our dental team will then carry out a thorough new patient examination to diagnose and treatment plan your current oral condition. We will send this information to our administration team to preauthorize on your behalf.

Your first visit will include:

• Tooth-by-tooth exam
• Evaluation of current dental restorations
• Periodontal analysis
• Bite and jaw health
• Diagnostic x-rays
• Intraoral photos
• Discussion and consultation
• iTero Full Mouth Scan
• Oral Cancer Screening

After your examination, your dental hygienist will begin your dental cleaning. We do our best to complete your cleaning in one visit, but it may be necessary to bring you back for additional visits. Upon checkout, we will schedule your necessary treatment visits and discuss the results of your preauthorization.

At the recommendation of the Canadian Dental Association, we encourage parents to bring children in by age one or when their first teeth make an appearance. Our kid-friendly dentists will help your little one become familiar with the dental office and team, as well as ensuring that their growth and development is on track.

In an ideal world, every patient would enter our practice with a full new patient examination and consultation. Sometimes, however, dental emergencies bring new patients to our door who are seeking relief from a toothache or pain.

Our problem-focused exam will help us relieve symptoms and stabilize your condition. Once we take care of your immediate needs, we will invite you to become a regular patient at Scenic Acres Dental Centre.
